Who Can Get Married.. In Nova Scotia ?

Posted on Feb 10, 2008 under General Info | No Comment

Anyone over the age of 19 .. can get married. But if you need to get married .. before you turn 19, both sets of parents need to consent to it. Absolutely no one under 16 can get married .. without the consent of the court. You do not have to be a Nova Scotia resident to get married here.. but note that your license is only valid in this province.

So what happens if both of you move outta the province..?? why can’t they be valid throughout canada..??  wierd ..!

Anyways… blood test is not required.. in Nova Scotia to get married.  Now if one or both party is a divorcee, a final proof of divorce.. called the Certificate Divorce or Decree Absolute must be produced when applying for your marriage license. Same for those who had been widowed… a Certificate of Death is required.
