The Asians back in asia.. spend tonnes of money on their wedding.. but they eventually gets it back during the wedding dinner.. whereby everyone is encouraged to give “ang pows” (red packet with money in it) to help the wedding couple with the cost of the wedding.. and also secure this amount when you have your own wedding. Strange as it may sounds.. it actually works.. and having a wedding in Asia… is actually quite a lucrative business.
Unfortunately, in the West here.. you cannot depend on that kind of generousity .. so you better keep that belt really tight. And save in any ways you can. But savings does not mean that you need to have a cheap wedding.. it means you should spend wisely.. and don’t rush into anything. Afterall, every girls wedding should be perfect.. and they should look their most beautiful eh.
- It is a waste of money to buy and keep that wedding dress. No need for it at all. Check out those prom store or those store that sell prom dresses. In the West.. they cater to bigger size woman.. so there is actually no need to have one specially tailor made for you. If you are looking for a off white or champagne color dress.. this may be even cheaper… therefore it is great news for me.
- Don’t refuse any offer of a free dress.. from your grandmother.. or his mother.. or sister. Take it .. if it fits.
- Back home.. you need to hire someone to do your hair and make up .. but to be honest.. it is just a waste of money.. and you don’t even look like yourself.. on your wedding day.. you look like an opera singer .. from the East. So do your own make up and your own hair .. if possible.
- Wear family jewelry .. there is no need to go out and buy one that fits the dress itself.
- Renting a tux instead of buying one for the spouse is the best way to go about it. I don’t think mine would wear another .. for a long , long time.

I wanted to get something for those who attends my wedding shower.. to bring home something that they will always remember this nite by but not too, too expensive. And even after the wedding .. they can use it for other stuff.. or put in their own mint. At $2.72 a pop.. i think it is not bad at all.

This plantable wedding favor is quite unique. Showing that Love Grows .. it symbolizes your love.. and those ppl that you’ve invited for the shower.. that there is hope.. and love can grow as well for them. They come in a set of 12 at about $21.

How about some rose scented heart soap with a lovely silver heart charm. Comes with a heart shape gift box.. and tied up with organza ribbon. At only $2.58 for one if you order more than 48 pieces of it. Get them at wedding-favours.ca

As un-chinese as i want our wedding to be.. certain things.. i just cannot get away from tradition. I guess i’m still very chinese deep inside me. I bought these covers.. for the whole house.. during our wedding day. At least our house would look like something auspicious or celebratory is happening. At $9.90 for 2 cushion cover.. it’s not expensive at all. The character on the pillow says.. Double Happiness.. hoping that the wedding couple will be happy forever. Chinabride.com is where i found these.

Finally, decided on the theme of my wedding. What do you think i would choose..?? I want it in the summer.. so that it is hot enough.. but not too, too hot. So the venue .. needs to be at the beach.. or at the seaside. A Seaside Wedding Theme would be easy .. i think.
