Bride & Groom Party Picks

Posted on Aug 29, 2008 under Cake/Food, Decorations, Theme | No Comment

Nice eh..?? these party picks are pretty retro yet romantic and great for using to decorate your wedding cakes.. or the drinks of your guest. Of course if you want to use them for the bridal shower or engagement party .. now that would be another idea too. I really liked it.. i wonder if i can incorporate this in my wedding without overspending. A set of 12 picks cost $7.95 .. and the best part of these picks are you can see both the front and the back of the groom and bride. Pretty awesome.. and great stuff. Order them from the Spoon Sisters.

Personalize Wedding Invites & Preparations

Posted on Aug 29, 2008 under Useful Tips, Wedding Invites | No Comment

By now we all know that planning a wedding can be quite expensive. And if you only have a budget of around $5,000, you kind of have to stretch those dollars as far as possible. If you can print your own wedding invites then why not, right? It is way cheaper, more personalized and you can pretty much do anything you want with your invites. Of course, having a Color Laser Printer would be a great help but if you don’t have one, you can find one that is quite affordable and you can make use of it even after the wedding.

People say that  toner is expensive but if you check out the hot deals at Super Warehouse, you might just be surprised at how affordable they are. For only a small amount of money you can print not only your invitation cards, you can also use it to print your thank you cards as well after the wedding.  Awesome right?

One of the things I really like about any weddings is the movies and pictures of how a couple got together and finally got married, those kind of corny stories that need some projectors to show off if you were having a huge wedding.  But if like myself, you probably only need to buy one or better still borrow one from someone who already has it.  But if you don’t have a friend with a printer to lend, an affordable one can be bought online and there are plenty to choose from at Super Warehouse.

Marrying The Family Too..??

Posted on Aug 27, 2008 under The Man, Tradition | No Comment

No way..!! not here in Canada..! if you marry a Chinese man.. sure you get to marry his whole family .. and the extended one..!  But in Canada.. the men here are pretty different. and i’m sure . the man wouldn’t even think to ask his parents advise on alot of things.. about our relationship.  Plus the parents .. don’t interfere, which is what i like most being over here.. and marry a white man.

What’s My Budget?

Posted on Aug 25, 2008 under Money | No Comment

Everyone asked me .. what is my budget for the wedding..?? that way they can rally around . .and help with other stuff. if needed.  I could use any help that i can get . and having as little guests as possible is my aim.  And since only “real” friends are gonna be invited.. i’ll say . my budget has gotta be only $5,000.

Now if i were in Singapore.. i donch think that this will be possible.. but since i’m in Canada.. everything is simplified.   Wedding dress, the man’s shirt and pants.. and nice shoes.. and food & wine for the wedding .. plus invitation cards, flowers.. and dress for the daughter.. and some extras for wedding favors.  Arrrghhhh..!!!   $5,000 isn’t enough… ?? is it..??

Fruits Tarts & Wedding Invitations

Posted on Aug 23, 2008 under Cake/Food, Tradition, Wedding Invites | No Comment

In the Chinese tradition, we give away ..  “wife biscuit” together with the wedding invitation card.  But since i can’t find the traditional “wife biscuit” .. i have no choice but to give these fruit tarts with my invitations. Now ordering it from a local bakery isn’t gonna be easy.. because we don’t have very many here.  The one that would do it.. i’m not really crazy about their tarts.. so i’m gonna ask the local grocery store if they could do it for me.. and as cheap as possible please.

Traditional Tea Cups

Posted on Aug 21, 2008 under Tradition | No Comment

Traditionally, a Chinese who gets married needs to use these special tea pot and tea cups .. to serve your elders tea.  The tea is made of longan and red dates and everything sweet.  But because i am in Canada.. and my family wouldn’t be here.. i am therefore not obliged to kneel down with these traditional cups.. and serve tea.

Why Men Are Not Interested In The Wedding Preparation?

Posted on Aug 19, 2008 under Musing, The Man | No Comment

I don’t think any men are..??  unless they love the girlfriend or woman very much.. or more than their life..??  the man had a friend.. who got married a few years ago.. and each time.. i asked him.. hows the preparation.. ?? he would answer.. i’ve done my part .. by proposing.. and buying thr ring.

At that time, i felt that he was just being arrogant.. and ignorant.. and kinda childish.. plus i felt like smacking him.. muahahahah!!  smack his smug answer and look .. !  But knowing the kinda person he was.. i didn’t say a thing.. but still.. i felt that man like him shouldn’t get married.

Although most men.. ain’t this way.. i knwo that they leave pretty much everything to the woman.  So should we still get married.. when he show no interest..?? that’s the big question.  If he didn’t want a wedding .. does it mean .. he doesn’t wanna marry you .. and spend the rest of his life with you ..??

Wedding Photography

There really isn’t any real and good photographer around this town.  So i’m really torn in between going up to the city and get a studio shot .. or just depend on friends and family to take pictures for us..??  I would love to have a few professionally taken.. so my quest this week.. is to find one here in this town.. and if all else fail.. i’m gonna look for one up in the city.  Hopefully they don’t charge so much..! i donch wanna be in debt..!!!

Silver Wedding Band

Posted on Aug 15, 2008 under Jewelry, The Man | No Comment

I asked the man if he would like a silver wedding band instead of a gold one.. for our wedding.  He said.. it didn’t matter to him.  You think all men are this way..??

Anyways.. i kinda like something different.. and wanna try something different too.  But silver wedding band may be cheaper.. than gold.. it is the design of the ring that may cost us alot more.  So the budget is essential too.  I know for sure.. that silver is as good as gold..and they last forever.. if you donch bang them around.  But of course, i want an appropriate size and thickness of the ring for the man.. because the one he is currently wearing is kinda a ridiculous width size.. too thin.. and meant for a woman.  Of course, he doesn’t think so.  And nope.. i’ll never buy them. .unless i get to see them.. and put them on.. and like them.  Same for the man.. i’ll have to bring him to the jewelry store for that.. and it has to be the times. .when he is in a good mood too.  Afterall, you can’t choose a wedding band.. gold or not gold.. in a bad mood day.. eh..??

Barong Tagalog

Posted on Aug 12, 2008 under The Man, Wardrobe | No Comment

I’m on the quest to find something nice and casual for the man to wear during our wedding. The barong tagalog was first introduced to me.. when i was a kid. .and attending church. You see our pastor.. Pastor Fernandez was a philipino and every sunday .. you will see him wearing something like that. And of course, with all the philipino guests we had in our church for singing and ministry talks.. i see alot of this shirt.. which was in a good way.. because Singapore was darn hot.

This shirt is the national shirt for philippine men.. and it is hand embroidered and it cost like $249. Very nice can comes in different embroideries.

I think if i had them make it like short sleeves… the man would prolly prefer it.. not so hot. I’ve seen my pastor worn short sleeves ones before.

Look how beautiful this is.. and it can be worn for casual/formal occasions even after our wedding ..!! awesome.. or what..!!

Some colored ones are also nice.. but this one isn’t that expensive.. and that is because it is not embroidered i think. It is only monochromatic handpainted with leaf and bamboo pattern. I think alot of ppl would choose something like that.. because it is cheaper.. and more feasible with the budget. You can choose for a chinese collar instead of a normal one. And given a choice i would choose a chinese collar but it’s entirely up to the man.. i am just given him many options.

Another colored one..!! monochromatic hand-painted with leaf embroidery buttons with loop closures. At $92.99.  Barong Filiipino Designs.com is where i found them, you can also order them online.  I think they can be customed made to what you like too.
