Wedding Favors Of Chocolate

Posted on Jan 18, 2009 under Cake/Food, Wedding Favors | No Comment

A very neat way to lay out the wedding favors of chocolate right in the middle of the dance floor that way .. everyone will see it . . and feel free to take just one.. and not more. Choose from dark chocolates with cherries, dark chocolate with tangerines (my favorite) and dark chocolate with blueberries.  Each of them are wrapped carefully and individually.   A personal message is attached to the wrapper .. with a thank you . .and a reminder of how your guests on how important they were to be at your wedding.

Freezing The Wedding Cake

Posted on Jan 15, 2009 under Cake/Food, Musing, Tradition | No Comment

A tradition followed by most newlyweds is to save the top tier of their wedding cake for their first anniversary. The cake may, however, turn sour or get frostbite if the cake is not stored properly. A stale cake will not let you remember your wedding day the way it was. Follow these steps to keep your cake fresh:

Remove the decorations from the cake such as the flowers or the topper. Smaller decorations that are made of icing will be fine. If the cake is on unwrapped cake board, you will want to remove the cake and wrap the board in foil. Wrapping the board will prevent the cake from tasting like cardboard a year later. If the cake is on plastic, do not worry about wrapping the plate with foil.

Next, place the cake in the freezer for about twenty minutes. This will allow the icing to become firm and not stick to the plastic wrap. After the cake has been freezing for twenty minutes, you will be ready wrap the cake. You will want to completely cover the cake with plastic wrap and make sure that it is airtight. (I may even vacuum pack it.)

Next, you will want to wrap with at least two layers of aluminum foil. The more protection you can give the cake, the less likely it is to taste like freezer burn the next year.

You can also add to your cake?s protection by placing it in a storage container.

Defrosting the Cake
To defrost your cake for your anniversary, begin the process in your refrigerator. After two hours of defrosting in the refrigerator, remove the cake from the wrapping and allow it to defrost the rest of the way in the refrigerator. Just before you are going to serve the cake, allow the cake to rest at room temperature.

You and I want to fit into our wedding dresses though right?  Yes, you do!  So where does one start? A no food diet? A vegetable diet? Or a fruit diet? Or some even go for the carb diet? Well.. you kinda gotta feed your guests right..??  and no way .. am i feeding them Macdonalds like one of the man’s friend did.  It was horrid..!! sorry… but it sure wasn’t unique.  Going to a kid’s birthday party.. and having nuggets and burger is fine.. but no way for a wedding.

So what kind of food is good for a wedding..?? well that actually depends on where your wedding will be .. and what kinda theme you chose right..?? mine is a beach wedding.. and in the summer.. so it has gotta be catered .. but i’m NEVER serving pizza to my guests of course..!  NO WAY..!  or hot dog please..!!!

Now .. what would my guests think if i served them Sushi for my wedding by the beach..?  or even some take out noodles..?? how about a roast pig ..??  now that would go interesting eh..??  as much as i said no BBQ .. that may be the way we might have to go.. since it is a beach theme.. but what do we serve..?? hmmm.. gotta really sit down and think about it.. and the budget.

Nice eh..?? these party picks are pretty retro yet romantic and great for using to decorate your wedding cakes.. or the drinks of your guest. Of course if you want to use them for the bridal shower or engagement party .. now that would be another idea too. I really liked it.. i wonder if i can incorporate this in my wedding without overspending. A set of 12 picks cost $7.95 .. and the best part of these picks are you can see both the front and the back of the groom and bride. Pretty awesome.. and great stuff. Order them from the Spoon Sisters.

Fruits Tarts & Wedding Invitations

Posted on Aug 23, 2008 under Cake/Food, Tradition, Wedding Invites | No Comment

In the Chinese tradition, we give away ..  “wife biscuit” together with the wedding invitation card.  But since i can’t find the traditional “wife biscuit” .. i have no choice but to give these fruit tarts with my invitations. Now ordering it from a local bakery isn’t gonna be easy.. because we don’t have very many here.  The one that would do it.. i’m not really crazy about their tarts.. so i’m gonna ask the local grocery store if they could do it for me.. and as cheap as possible please.

Choosing The Wedding Cake

A great wedding cake is very important in a wedding reception. And since i am having my wedding outdoor.. and during the summer.. i want something of course not expensive.. but bright in color.. and stand out. And something that my guests would remember.. for a long time. I’ve attended weddings .. where the wedding cakes were pathetic..!! i didn’t even eat them.

My wedding cake needs to be affordable, pretty .. but gotta be chocolate cake inside..! This wedding cake is from Layers Wedding Cakes In Halifax Nova Scotia. They offer many flavor, like Chocolate, Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla, Marble, Luscious Lemon, Red Velvet, and more. The fillings for the cake can be Buttercream, Madagascar Vanilla, Lemon, Raspberry and Strawberry.

Cupcakes are becoming more and more popular .. i wonder if i should choose cupcakes instead.. afterall.. they are easier to distribute to the guests eh. This is from Sweet Celebration Wedding Cakes in Ontario. I wished they would put a price on their website.. that way .. one can kind find out … what they have to spend on their wedding cake.
