Something New, Something Old, Something Borrowed & Something Blue

So they say.. you need something new.. something old .. something borrowed.. and something blue.. for your wedding..??  I’ve heard about this.. for a long, long time.. even before my sister got married. So here i’m wondering.. why did this good old tradition mean..??  When I asked the man.. about it.. he answered..  “how would I know..??  yer the woman..!! “   MEN..!!!

Anyway.. this tradition is actually meant.. to bring the bride some good luck.  With each of the required things.. they are meant to represent something different.. for the bride .. and for the years to come.  It should be easily incorporated into the wedding gown.  Even though this tradition is old.. they are something that brides of today… still do.. during their wedding.. as far as I know.

So how do one find all the above..?? And what i chose .. to use for my own wedding.

Something old : I choose to use a necklace that was given to me by my mom to be worn.. during my wedding ceremony.

Something new : I will have a new piece of pearl bracelet to go with my necklace.. during the wedding ceremony.. because it symbolizes a new start of our life together.

Something borrowed : A pearl earring borrowed from a girlfriend.. who had a very successful marriage for the last 40 yrs.

Something Blue :  A light blue garter was what i was told to get.. and that must be the easiest.

Some wedding dance eh..!!  Now if only i can get the man to do that.. muahahahah!! i bet we will be the wedding couple of the year.

Jewelry or accessories .. as one might call it .. is a must for any wedding.  Be it for the bride or for the bridal gang. Kit and Kabudle in our town has it all.. and a good selection.  I love the prices too.. and if you are doing your prom this year, you may want to check them out yourself.  I think I am gonna get something simple for everyone in my wedding .. the bridal gang.

To Honeymoon or Not To HoneyMoon

Yes..!! i get asked a lot these day .. about the honeymoon.  The wedding is already costing us a small fortune.. therefore to spend another $2K on the honeymoon.. it might just break our bank.  We had planned our wedding to be a non-financial burden to us.. so if it is gonna cost us a lot more than we can afford..  i think we might just do away with the honeymoon.

A lot of younger couple are gonna just splurge .. because they think it is a once in a lifetime thingie.. and i cannot agree more.. but for us.. i rather not begin our life with debt.  I think in any relationship.. to start of with putting the man in debt is a definitely no-no, in fact, I had seen many marriages break.. because of financial disagreeement.  I mean if your spouse was making a lot of money.. sure ..!! go for it.. but if you are not.. you know what i mean.  Don’t get pressurized into doing what others think is right.. because they don’t know your financial situation.

Wedding Colors

I was told .. that a wedding color has to be choosen for my wedding.  Now here i thought.. i chose a beach theme right..?? so shouldn’t that be enough.??  hhahaha!! well.. i was wrong.. a theme and wedding color are two very different thing.  I have so many colors i like.. but i loved pastel colors.. so i told my bridesmaid.. pastel.. anything pastel is what i would do ..  :)   I love the paper lantern.. and i’m on a mission to find it.. and if i can’t find similar .. i’m gonna buy plain ones from the dollar store.. and get some friends who are good with handicraft.. tohelp me.. with the butterflies.  Awesome..!! and that shouldn’t cost too much money.. i would think.

Winter Wedding

I just received a wedding invitation for the 24th December.. !!  a winter wedding..!! woohoo..!! truth be told… i’ve never been to a winter wedding.  When we think of winter.. we never think of a wedding right..??  and with Christmas just round the corner.. who would want to be crazy enough to get married then.  But i see there are ppl who loved the winter and the cold weather so much.. to want to do it.  But there are advantages to having a Winter Wedding eh.  First of all.. it’s off season… so you get a better chance to choose the location of the wedding that you want.. and you also save with the vendors.. because you get to pick what you want.. without having to share with other brides to be.  To each his own .. i guess.. but Brrrrrr.. for me..

Wedding Pictures

Wedding pictures are one of the most important things in any wedding and it’s no different from what I want for mine.  Not only are they lasting memories for myself, but for my grandchildren as well. Surely this grandmother wants to look beautiful for them.

I hear that a professional photographer does make a lot of difference when it comes to producing good pictures.  For me, I would have to look at my budget of course, but the Hilton Head wedding photographers are not as expensive as I thought they would be. So I asked myself, will an award winning Pro Photographer like Stephen B. Dey take on my small wedding job? After all, he is a Master Photographer!  I’m pleased to report back that he does handle just about any kind of job from pre-schools to sport games and of course weddings too.

I’m interested in the Legacy Collection at $895 (this is what i can afford, you can choose other packages if you like).  For that you get the undivided attention of one photographer, unlimited images taken, final images provided in a bound magazine style booklet with leather cover, and final images produced on CD. Ordering can be done online for friends and family.  Super awesome, right? They take this task off your hands immediately.  No need for wondering who wants which pictures for keepsakes.  I’ts a service every bride and groom should consider.

Wedding Decor

More wedding decor found at our local bridal store .. just opposite our business.  Kit and Kaboodle Bridal .. they do all sorts of bridal decor .. and wedding dresses.  You would do well .. talking to the owners.. for they are really friendly .. and insightful.

What Does A Wedding Means?

Is it the end..?? or the beginning..?? is it for yourself.. or for others..?? is it for being legal..?? or just a dream you want to act out..??  What does a wedding really mean to anyone..??  Are you having the wedding for yourself..?? or for him..?? or for the parents..?? or like me.. who has a kid..  for the kid..?? so that she wouldn’t be called names .. when she is older.. or am i afraid.. to teach my kid.. that it is not right.. not to have a wedding. Afterall, every mother wants their kid to get marry in a “proper” way right..??  So what is your ulterior motive of having a wedding..??  what do you hope to get outta your wedding celebration..??  Is it really important.. someone asked me.. to show the whole world.. that you are in a wedding dress.. and so forth .. and so forth..??  and getting presents.. that you probably wouldn’t use.  What is your reason for getting married..??  Are you doing the whole circus show for yourself..?? or for others..??
